She has sipped it at the Plaza’s Palm Court in New York City, savored it in a cardboard cup on a windy wharf in Sydney, and haunted tea cafes in Paris. In rural Illinois where she was born, tea was something your grandmother prepared when you had a stomach ache. After raising three children she moved near her sister in San Francisco and lived in the Bay Area for twenty years. Recently she transplanted herself to the windy plains of Oklahoma where she earned a degree in humanities, demonstrating for her grandchildren that it is never too late to grasp a dream.

Beverly Rorem is a student of tea, freelance writer, novelist, and writing instructor in Oklahoma City where she lives with several rescued pets. Her future plans include a journey to Morrocco to indulge her longing for authentic mint tea served in a gold-rimmed glass.
